Hi i was wondering if anyone could recommend any accomodation in these places?

Looking for somewhere nice that is not in the thick of the party scene but within easy access to it!

    Thanks

You are better off waiting until you get there for both Islands The only places that you can book in advance tend to be quite expensive.

Before you arrive you should have a rough idea where you want to stay by referring to a map and when you get off the ferry there will be heaps of people there trying to get you to stay at there hotels. They will give you a lift there to check the place, if you don't like it you can just say no thank you and they will drop you off back at the ferry port.

If you are going to Ko Phangan for the full moon party get there a few days early maybe even a week. There are lots of lovely places on west coast of the island just outside the main town.

Have a good one and don't fall asleep at the full moon party.

For Koh Phagan try Friendly resort. If you are coming from Samui on the ferry it is just a 2 min walk from the pier. Ask anyone for directions. It has a pool and the rooms are nice. They have some bungalows if you arrive in time. The only problem with this place is that it is over run with a certain nationality who are quite rude, arrogant, obnoxious and stick to them selves. But then the whole island is too. Its located 10min walk from beach party and loads of restaurants are around it.

Dont feel you need to be there a week before hand. 3 days is fine. Most places take bookings on arrival. Dont believe the hype or panic some of the touts (or travelers) will tell you about getting accommodation. Its all to make you rush into a decision before you get there.

Wow I'm so jealous, I spent most of my summer on the Thai islands and went to two full moon parties, had such an amazing time! On Samui Coco Resort or Ark Bar and Resort in Chaweng are good, resonably priced and central. On Phangan, get there about 4 days before full moon and you'll have no problems finding accom. DON'T BOOK BEFOREHAND YOU'LL BE RIPPED OFF!!! I'd recommend Coral Bungalows, Black and White guesthouse, Neptune Villas; all of which are on the other beach(sunset) a 5 min walk from full moon beach. Coral Bungalows is where we stayed the second time we were there and it's great craic, there's a pool party on there every night leading up to full moon so it's very sociable and we met loads of great people.

I stayed in Drop Inn Resort in Phangan at full moon party time. It's not right on the beach which I liked, has 2 pools, is ony a 5 minute walk from all of the action and it does a great buffet breakfast for when you arrive home from the night before.

Could anyone tell me how long it takes to travel from Phangan to Samui by those longboats that are parked on the shore, and if your rucksack would get wet travelling between the islands on one? I used the ferry last year but might have to take one of these boats this time. Also, if anyone knows an average price that would be great.
