Best Waterproof Golf Shoe Advice.

My old footjoys eventually gave up today so I am in the market for a new pair of shoes, waterproof being essential given the time of year we are coming into. I also have and older pai of adidas tour 360 but find they can only be worn in summer, maybe newer models are better. Any recommendations for best waterproof shoes within reasonable budget.

Footjoy AQL's. Most places have "Last Years Model" for about 60euro, even when the new model comes in it'll probably be about 99 so not too bad at all.

Id go with either the Footjoy AQL's or the any of the addidas shoes.
They have a new pair coming out soon which are a bot more discrete than the other ones.

I just brought back a pair of addidas the other day. After 9 holels of wearing them once my feet were soaked! They were a joke. Nevada Bobs at Liffey Valley exchanged them for me and I got the Footjoy AQL's.. there great!!

Ive had my pair for nearly two years and still as good as ever.
The footjoys are good though.

Ive heard of a few people having similar problems with the adidas 360.
Ecco man myself, have 3 pairs and never a single leak...and I play in any weather.

I usually shop around fr a pair of FJ Dryjoys.

I've never had any problems with them.

Greenjoys are a summer shoe and not waterproof.

Look for anything with goretex. I have a pair of Etonic and am about to enter my 4th season with them and still waterproof.

Bought a new pair of Nike but they are cutting the feet off me!!

Thanks all for the replies, looks like the AQL's are the choice, must have a look next time I'm about mcGuirks or halpennys.

Footjoy aqls. Had a pair about 2 years now and still completely waterproof. Have tried nikes and hitek before but the aqls are the best imho.

Maybe deemed a summer shoe but they do come with a 1 year waterproof guarantee which (I stand to be corrected) is the most you get anyway with any shoe. IMO €50 is decent value for even an entry level Footjoy.
I bought a pair of Adidas about 2 years ago for €100 & my feet were soaked after the 1st use.

Whatever shoes you do buy I would recommend you get into the habit of using Dubbin or other type of waterproofing wax on them before each round. I find it really prolongs the shoe life.

My greenjoys are coming to the end of their second season and they have never let a drop in (despite many many opportunities!). Excellent shoe.

Dont buy Stubert Helium shoes... the particular glue that holds the sole to the uppers doesnt seem to like water much.

Anyway, I visit enough ponds, puddles and ditches to know that they don't, in practice, let in water.

Goretex shoes are waterproof for lifetime/10 years or so. You gets what you pays for IMO. I have a 5 year old pair of eccos that I can happily stand in a puddle over the first 3 or for rows of laces and still stay dry. It looks silly but Im dry

I had a pair of ecco gtx goretex shoes a few years ago. They lasted about 16 months and then leaked badly. They were €175. Way over priced, and was a fool to pay that for them. Brought them back though and got store credit for €175. So got DryJoys instead and €50 left over.

Anyway, need a new pair now. There are HiTec CDT Power 500's on sale in Elverys for €60. Anybody have these? Are they waterproof? I know they say they are but I want to know what they're like in reality

You must have got a dud pair, it happens.
As I said, I have 3 pairs and all are bone dry playing in all weather.
Know several people who swear by them (unlike the adidas 360 when they swear at them)

the leather uppers (non gtex) crack quickest from keeping them in the car or a cold locker when damp from sweat or rain, you have to dry them out at room temp with newspaper or a wooden shoe horn yoke.

thats the theory anyway, lol,

ill be testing it with my next pair, probably ones w/ gtex

I'm pretty good at cleaning my shoes tbh, they at least get an air pressure "wash" and always use wooden shoe horns...

yeah, care is the key i think, maybe there aren't that many 'dud' shoes in reality.

i always thought the shoe horns were for shape but the wood sucks the moisture out at just the right rate, ill have to get a set.

i want goretex but the choice seems to be thick soles especially under the toe (ecco), or thin soles with iffy grip tech underneath.

i might skip gtex and get the upper end nike shoe, just clean them like a buck private ...lol.

anyone wear nike ?

Make sure you ask for cedar shoe TREES (shoe horns are what you put your shoes on with to protect the heel).

Bought them last week. €60. Comfortable shoe. Played one round when grass was wet and they didn't leak.
For €60 you can't go wrong. I would recommend anyway.

had the ecco goretex too
never again,
cracked at front over small toe after 6 months,and also the heaviest shoe ever imo.,and i do mind the shoes,clean them and put the shoe trees in straight after every round
dryjoys or aqualites are the fantastic,
have pairs heading for teir 3rd and 4th winters
