Reversing lights stopped working

The reversing lights on my car are giving bother. Seat Leon 00-05 model. When gear stick is positioned in reverse and you start up the car, the reversing light flicker on momentarily then go off again and will not work from there on in. No fuses blown. Bulbs are ok too. The flicker suggests there is a loose connection somewhere and I'm pretty sure it's not at the boot area and may be closer to the gear box area. How do i get to the connections to check it out?

Maybe a bad connection at the switch, or the switch itself.If you are knowledgeable about electrics you can check the switch with a multimeter on the ohms/continuity/bleeper setting and the leads on the switch terminals and with the gear in reverse and see if there is continuity.

Where would i find the switch? Yes, knowledgible on electrics, but not much on auto-electrics but if i can locate the switch, i will be able to bell it out. Thanks for your reply.

Well I dont know exactly as I dont have this car, but its definitely going to be on the gearbox.Have a look for a switch with usually about two wires going to it somewhere.Sorry its only abit vague:rolleyes:.

If your reversing lights are on the opening section of your boot which I think they are, you should check the wiring where it moves/bends at the boot hinges as this has been known to cause problems in many cars
