    Hello all,

Whats your thoughts on a opel vectra 1.9 cdti 06, 07 or 08 models.

    Any common faults with them?

    Thanks

No real common faults as such, just that timing belt / tensioners / waterpump must be changed when they are due.

Nice comfortable car with plenty of power too.

Thanks shamwari, alot of people think it looks like a boring car and its dull:confused: I think it looks good.
Reviews are not bad so far. Is there a DPF on these, if so, what millage are they due a cleaning?

I'm not 100% sure on that one. What I think the suss is:

The earlier 120bhp (8v engines) were supplied without a DPF, and then the DPF was fitted during the production run.

The 150bhp (16v engine) had the DPF from the 05/06 facelift onwards.

I can find out for definite if you need to know.

Its ok, just trying to do a bit of research first. I dont want to buy one with 95k on her to only find out that a dpf and timing belt & so on are due for a cleaning or change. Its happened me before:o

Well, if you get the right car with that mileage on it, the fact that timing belt might be needed should be reflected in the price, or if it being purchased from a dealer, insist on it being replaced before you buy it.

As regards the DPF, my view on these is that they will be a bit like catalytic converters when they first came out. Initial prices for replacement were high, but as demand for them increased, aftermarket sales forced prices down across the board, and led to improved availability. I reckon it will only be a matter of time before the likes of FastFit etc provide a supply and fit service for DPF's. The market is there.

would not touch one a desperate ball of scrap. Serious flywheel issues 6 months they last and it is not from hard driving

I thought the older ones were bad alright, but I thought the 05/06 ones had a lot of the issues ironed out.

We had the slightly older 2005 model but same engine. We bought it new the 1.9cdti 120bhp model. Sold it when it was 3 years old. My parents said it was one of the best cars they have ever owned. Also the 120bhp Is far from slow and has plenty of power. Many say it was more reliable than the 150bhp I don't know whether that's true. My dad drove a 150 bhp 2008 vectra last week and he said it was not that much more powerful than the 120bhp which we had. Great car IMO.
