Our new employee has been told he has to wait until Jan for his Opel Insignia tourer co. car as there isn't a cat in hells chance of getting one between now & then.

    Can this be true?

You don't work for a large multinational in Analytics do you?

Currently 4 in the country with various dealers - may be sold or not, but all have Plus packs fitted. 1 x 130 S model. 2 x 130 SC models and 1 x 160 SC model with Bluetooth and Fogs along with the Plus Pack.

There are probably around 8 new Estate's in that class of vehicle, in the whole country - I know, I spent a couple of days last week chasing them.

    Yeah, + 1,000,000. They're a nightmare to get a hold of.

The problem with this is it wont work if the OP is leasing the car.

I thought the Guards weren't getting new cars any more because of Government cutbacks?

    Class looking Estate though.

    CUT IMAGE!

How much would that have cost the state as it sits there? Fully kitted out? Is that info available to the public?

Car itself would be a good chunk less than €20k ex. VAT, ex. VRT. Wouldn't like to guess what the fit out cost would be.

Looks like an SC with the Plus Pack to me.

I usually wouldn't look twice at an opel, hate them with a passion!

I learned to drive in an Opel Reckord 2.0 with a sticking accelerator! Oh fun times!

But this car especially the estate is a beauty! Seen one on black and tinted rears and am falling for it in a big way, it even looks gorgeous in white.
Whats the range topper 170BHP deisel?

So it would appear - tis a small world.

Your new starter can have an SC 130ps Sports Tourer. There is only a possibility of 1 of them, which is Technical Grey but has the Plus pack. Plus pack is 18" Alloy Wheels and Front Fog lights. Cost is €699 and has to be driver paid, and he'll never get it back.

A little OT but the Insignia looks terrible with those small 16" alloy wheels or the alloy immitation steel wheels. The 18" alloys really make it look well though they probabaly will not last long on Irish roads.

S model comes with 16" Steel wheels with hub caps (horrible)
SC comes with 17" "Structure" wheels. Hub Caps, but look like alloys
SE, SRi and Elite come standard with 18" wheels which are costing a small fortune on replacement tyres. Option to upgrade to 19's.

Plus pack on S, SC and SE give alloys of 1" bigger than listed above for €699 on the S and SC and €792 on the SE - which is pretty good value, and why the majority of SC's which come in to Ireland for stock have the Plus Pack specified.

Just had a look at that price list, 30 extra horses for only 500 quid.

Why would anyone buy the 130 diesel?

That's what I always wondered, which is why we got the 160bhp.

Such an amateur - its clearly an S with a plus pack - 17" alloys, front fogs and no chrome are the giveaway.

I actually spotted this in Opel HQ a while back - it aint diesel. Twin exhausts on the rear suggest 2.0T to me...

?? I don't think so, the front is bland at best and the fact it's an Opel I wouldn't have one in my way to be honest.

A guy around the corner from me has one in black with 19" alloys and darker glass and chrome. Its a cracking looking car. I also spotted a black vauxhall VXR tourer up the north the other day which was very cool indeed.

Oh, my my! The nco 17"s kinda threw me.....Had I actually looked at the picture properly, I would have spotted the chrome.

I wonder thats an odd car in that case. A Plus pack adds 18"s and fogs to an SC but they're 17"s. Wonder are fogs a requirement for AGS, and they just went with the cheaper tyres for the smaller alloy?

Saw one in rathgar yesterday at the lights.
Had to look twice as i thought it was an audi a4/a6.
    Lovely looking car alright.

I have to say as a long term Opel fan (I learned to drive in an '91 Kadett) its great to see the brand getting talked about in terms of good looks. I had an '06 Vectra up until very recently from new, but unfortunately due to getting the big R after the company I worked for shut down, it had to go home to the leasing company. It never let me down and I miss it :( (partially because i've been relegated to driving the wifes Punto).

I have to change a company car in February and was seriously looking at one of these (Elite EcoFlex 160). Would I need to order it now?

    Short answer - yes.

Last one I'm expeting this year is due to the garage on the 30th October, but was ordered 19th July, so 3 1/2 months.

We'll see how long it actually takes to make it through to me! It can take a little while, but I'll keep you updated.

Sounds about right. Took nearly 4 months for an SRi Tourer to find its way to me recently.

There are a few Elite 160bhp's around at the minute, but I do think that will change come January as there are a lot of people out there who just don't understand how little stock is available at the minute.

Trying to find a Tourer in any spec at the minute is impossible.
