    Hello,
I was told by garda that I will received fine of 80euro by post within 2 weeks to be paid at local post office.
Two weeks gone no fine in post.
Now Nearly 3 months gone since and just recently I got letter for court summon for speeding.
    Informed to bring driving licence.

Do I need to contact/bring a solictor or do I just turn up and pay fine and get points.
Is it 4 or 2 points?
Why didn't I receive fine by post as it was my first warning?

Is your vehicle registered to the right address?

Yes, car registered to home address.
Garda looked at my driver licence and check with me to confirm thats my home address, I said yes.

This exact same thing happened to me last year, I didnt receive the fine and as such did not pay. It went to court, you dont need a solicitor (just make sure you listen out for your name to be called) Approach the bench and the judge will ask you why you didn't pay the fine. Explain that you didnt receive it and he'll mutter something about these fine should be sent out via registered post.

I just had to pay the initial fine and also received the two points.

The judges see this every day in court so I wouldnt worry too much about it

Dont listen to this advice. While this poster may have had it go well it would not be unusual for a judge to rule against you. Particularly if you received your summons to the right address.

    Thank you for your replies.
Just a thought, could I get in touch with the garda regarding not receiving fine in post?
Also when my name is being called, there is very good chance that i will miss it cos Im deaf (I have some small hearing with help of hearing aids and lipread, in case ye wondering how I understood garda) its also in my licence that I must wear hearing aids, I dont know if the garda ever notice this.
So I want an ISL interpreter to understand what is going on in court, do I contact the district court or the garda to request they book interpreter?
    Do I need a solicitor?

I suspect you're just using that excuse because you just didn't want to get a speeding ticket.

Eh? Im not making excuse.

I was caught speeding, didnt check my speed.
    Shown speed gun.
I was told 'fine will be posted to your home address within 2 weeks, pay 80e at post office within 28 days' but instead got letter of court summon, so it was a shock.
If thats normal practice for garda to change mind, fair enough.
I will attend and accept fine/points.

What "advise" should the OP not listen to, everything I said was what happened to me, the judge may well rule against them but that should not have any reflection on any "advise" I gave!!:rolleyes:

Are you just trying to be a plonker or are you just thick - nothing the OP said suggested she was trying to get off the offence:rolleyes:

There is always an appeal path available.

See the problem with this thread is that it is conflicting with the charter.

Do I ban everyone above or no?
