It was due it's NCT sometime last year. Why was it not tested? Or was it tested and did it fail on something very serious?

See what the seller says and if it doesn't sound plausible, walk away...

There's lot of them around with no NCT, but I'm not sure why.

Edit: Seems to have electrical problems. Because it has two batteries it leads me to think that most of the electrical problems are in fact battery problems (the VW Phaeton had similar issues).

    Lovely cars though.

I think you would be insane paying nearly four grand for a Peugeot with no test.. It would be some come down from a S3...You will get a diesel passat for the same year and money with a test and wont cost a fortune to maintain. Btw I wouldnt be buying it for a guy called Justas...;)

2.2 litre is pricy to tax and 607 was never loved so you would imagin that a seller would want to be making it as attractive as possible to a potential buyer by at least having a current NCT. The fact that it doesn't would have alarm bells ringing with me.

At the very least they should have a recent NCT fail sheet with what needs fixing before I would even look at it.

Yeah I wouldn't outright rule the car out - it is a lot of comfy modern car for the money after all - but I'd like to have some questions answered. Or do a deal, after the current owner has passed the NCT in it

The 607's are a float of a car and with the 2.2 hdi you have good power and comfort for the money...:)

What milage is on the car...??
Has the timing belt been replaced recently...??
If its covered a 100k+ mls...Then the Diesel particle filter may have to be replaced with an additive top up....tell them your aware of this cost if it has not been already done....Good way of knocking a few quid off...:)
Powerwashing normally sorts the dpf but the additive would need to be topped up @ around 130k mls.

Drive it and see what you think....if you hear any "beeping" on start up keep your eye on the centre display for what messages come up...These beep for
    every little fault...door/boot open....tyre pressure monitors...bulbs blown.

If you press the check button on the dash (odometer reset button) the car will do a Onboard diagnostic check which will pick up faults e.g. blown bulbs
low tyre pressure and display them on the centre display.

I'd buy one myself only the tax is a killer...:(
    Best of luck...;)
