    Hi all,

I have my laptop hooked up to my TV via HDMI but I'm not getting any sound.

Laptop uses windows 7 and TV is a good Samsung. Have used it like this before with no problems. Any ideas?

Have you set the HDMI as the default audio device? Try right clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar. It's either properties or default audio device you pick, I can't remember off hand.

Once you have the properties window up right click the HDMI entry and set it as the default device.

You'll need to change it back to the speakers once you're finished though.

Just checked there - it's Playback Devices after you right click on the speaker icon

Im having similar problems. I want to display my laptop on my 50" plasma. The laptop has a hdmi connection. When i plug the hdmi cable into the laptop the screen turns off and nothing displays on the tv screen. I have a toshiba laptop running Win7 and a samsung tv. Any idea what im doing wrong or what to do?

Try holding the windows key and hitting P. Try this after leaving your desktop displayed and hooking up the hdmi cable.

The shortcut is more usually used for projectors but should work fine.
