Was in VHI Plan B parents and kids. (2 Kids). Costing about €2100 'ish per year. Phoned up recently and enquired about "Nurses" Plan. (Can be taken out by anyone). Found out that cover is broadly similar to Plan B, but kids are free for a year and adult cover €200 cheaper pp. Few diffs in cover, but none relevant to me. So total cover works out at €1400 or so. If you are actually a Nurse you get it cheaper again.. They have switched me and I will receive a refund of premium already paid.

Community rating means that everyone is entitled to medical insurance at the same price. If you know anyone on whatever scheme who pays less than you for the same cover then you are entitled to get that cover for that price.
VHI wont tell you this until you find out.

Aye, like company plans - generally have better cover for less money/same money. Also worth your while asking about the company plans :)

Heard an interview on radio, guy said that all providers vhi, bupa, quinn are now offering kids free deal. Main reason for this is most kids surgery is public i.e crumlin ect. So no benifit in having private insurance
