le Páidín vs le Pháidín

    Which of these is correct? I guess that both are and that one is dialect and one standard. I heard/saw that in a music video from TG4 in which the singer clearly sings "le Páidín" without the seimhiú but in the subtitles it is "le Pháidín".
    (I'm still haunted by "Bean Pháidín")

    AFAIK there shouldn't be a séimhiú after Le usually (although there is le chéile). But sometimes a séimhiú is put in to help things flow in speak. The subtitler may just have screwed up.

    It should be "Le Páidín". Le doesn't put a séimhiú on nouns. Le chéile is an exception of sorts. There's a séimhiú in "Bean Pháidín" because Páidín's in the tuisil ginideach.

    Dory and Gaeilgeboy are spot on. Le only affects nouns that begin with a vowel, outside of a few rare exceptions as mentioned.
