Hi just doing Hdip in history, wondering does anyone have advice on 2nd and 3rd year history modules? which to stay away from/ ones that are good/ leacturers that are good etc?

You're going have to reign in what you're asking. I just completed 2nd year and there were a lot of modules I done but you've to more specific. What 2nd year ones are you interested in and I might be able?

HI2103 Europe, Ireland and the Wider World II

either HI2037 The Rise of the Religious Orders in the Late Middle Ages or HI2038 The Tudors and Ireland

Would you advice on doing both HI2102 and HI2103? HI2037 and HI2038 clash so which one would you advice on taking?

Hmm, the course is structured much differently than last term.

HI2102/2103 were the core module last year. They ran throughout the year but it seems the department is overhauling. Anyways, they were interesting, covered the likes of the French Revolution, Slavery, Imperialism, German History, reformation and so on. Google the years to find the full list (it's a huge and busy time period they're covering). More precise questions about the course welcome.

Sorry I didn't do what you're asking. I did Russian, American History among others.

Although even if you have a passing interest in these subjects take them. Dr. Dave Edwards does two of those modules and he's a very good lecturer.

I did both the rise of the religious orders and the history of the media modules last year and I thoroughly enjoyed both. I know that some people in the media class found the content a bit trivial at times as we spent a good number of lectures discussing Gay Byrne and the likes! I really enjoyed it though and found it very interesting. Last year there was a 1500 essay as the mid term and the end of year exam was also very manageable. The religious orders module was also very interesting and outlines the origins and growth of various types of religious orders. it was a small class last year and the lecturer Professor D'aughton is a brilliant lecturer and very helpful. I would recommend both of those classes.
