    Can I get a room at, say, 3 or 4 a.m.?

I know you can check in generally after 3pm, but when do they stop letting people in?

There's usually a night porter that's on all night, they can let you in, Don't forget to ask for a late checkout when your leaving, I usually ask for 6pm and we settle on anytime between 2pm and 4pm. Nearly always works.

Cool. So, you're saying that many of them (?) are open 24/7?

Hotels often set a time by which they want you to have checked in. It can be as early as 6.00 p.m. and if you don't show up by that time they might give the room to somebody else.

If you want to check in later, all you generally need to do is advise them and they will hold your room. If you want to check in after midnight, it is best to phone them and make sure that there is a night porter who can deal with it (it might not be possible in smaller hotels).

Anything with *** and up as well as most ** places will be open 24/7. Checking in at any time of the night should be no problem at all. How many times have I arrived on a late flight way past midnight...

If you make a booking that requires you to pay at check-in, part of the rules might be that you have to check in by a particular time. But if you prepay your stay, the room is booked and paid - it is none of their business what time you choose to arrive. Of course, the hotel might still think you changed your mind and did not show. This is why most booking websites will ask you for an estimated arrival time. Put 4am in there and you will be grand.

i've checked in from 11am right through to 2am. i always make sure to call them in advance and remind them i'm coming and definitely will be there. most big hotels have 24hour receptions so there's no issues.
