Not turned on the heat for 4 months at least and when I turned it on tonight. The boiler did not start there is a flashing light but does not seem to be working. Anyone know what I can do to try and get the boiler working again?

What is the boiler model, fuel (oil? gas?) and what does the light say / what colour is it? Someone with better knowledge than me will go through the fine points if you can answer some of these.

    Are you certain:
    You have fuel?
That there hasn't been damage to the fuel line?
    That there is no blockage?
That the electrical connection is working OK? (Likely if the lights are on)
    Does it have water?
Does it have air? No nests built in the intake / flue?
Are any filters or the nozzle blocked?

It might be worthwhile having someone look at it to make sure the settings are correct.

What is make and model of boiler?

    And what light is flashing?

Pump will always be the first suspect, but as Victor says there are many other causes. Had an Lpg boiler last year where a small letby on the prv had essentially drained the system, customer unfortunately had kept resetting the overheat switch and ruined the boiler, so beware.

It is a gas boiler - an Ideal model S24 mini boiler. The power green light is flashing and nothing else is happening.

Is there water in the system, is the gas turned on, when was it last serviced and if you have a manual for it what advice does it give in the fault finding section. Ridiculous as it seems have you tried turning off the power to it and then trying it again.
