Teetoteller Davy failed a random breath test yesterday at listowel claiming that a mouth wash with alcohol in it was the cause.

Seems very strange to me was there not some people on here who where at the cheltenham preview night at leopardstown saying that Davy seemed to be drunk at it.

Russell was completely cleared of any alcohol related activity after he passed a second test, held shortly after.

It is thought that he exceeded the threshold on the first test due to mouthwash he had used before heading to the track.

I vaguely remember hearing a report about a driver who failed a morning breath test and was brought down to the garda station for further tests as he maintained he hadn't been drinking. He had, however, just brushed his teeth beforehand and used an alcohol based mouthwash, and it turned out that this was the reason he failed the initial breathalizer test. He was, obviously, completely cleared of any wrong doing. So things like that do happen.

Regardless of the ins and outs of it, I'm glad to see that the Turf Club have introduced these tests, which should help in the safety of the jockeys and the horses.

All mouth washes have alcohol in it,so it isn't just a certain one he used,as it's being made out to sound like.

He seemed very hyper at it but many people have told me he hasn't drank in about 15 years

I read that he never drank. He had a few drinks once but never took to it. Thats what I read in the Indo anyway
