    Hi Folks,

I've been listening to 100's of tracks for about 5 years now. I started off in trance but then slowly moved to progressive. I could never quite put my finger on it but I've finally started to settle on the "Deadmau5" type of sound. The heavier sort of bassline. I know he isn't the most popular round here but he's the profile many people would know. What I want to know is, what genre does he fall under? Or can someone recommend artist in the same sound? Whenever I go on Beatport, MasterBeat etc I can't really find what I'm looking for under the same genre. Is it progressive?

Any artist / genre suggestions welcome.

    ironclaw.

    This should be good :D

Sorry OP, not sure what I'd class him as.

I appreciate the input and I wouldn't be his number one fan either. Suppose what I'm really after is a suggestion list of artists that fall under the Progressive House, Electro House genre.

Really would prefer if we could keep this on topic and not a Deadmau5 slating tournament :pac:

I think you probably just answered your own question there. The problem is, the sheer amount of total garbage released under those genre headings means that searching for any quality tracks becomes a mind-numbing and soul destroying chore.

IMO, it's just not worth the hassle. There is so much amazing music out there right now, it's just that none, or close to none comes from those genres. And I say that as a someone who's spent the last 10 or so years listening to prog.

Both Wolfgang Gartner and Moguai have released stuff on deadmau5's label lately, I remember hearing a moguai track and mistakenly thinking that it was deadmau5, so they are quite similar.

Style wise, I think you might like some of Stimming's stuff, depending on what tracks of deadmau5 you were most into.

    will post links later :)

Most of his tracks fall into different sub genres prog, tech house he has some minimal tracks too.. And it could be debated long into the night and I'm sure it has on many occasions.. Listen to some of his older stuff with Steve Duda, they go under the name of BSOD.. Some quality tracks from the duo under that name

If, like me, the only bit of deadmau5's album you liked was the orchestral break then you might like this song :D

And here you go - Moguai=deadmau5 lite?

Thanks for the input folks. I think progressive is where I'll mainly have to do my searching. I have a good collection of Wolfgang stuff but the tracks above are new to me.

Progressive house is definitely what you want. Not a huge fan myself, but check out Chris Lake, BSOD (as mentioned above), and Klass, you might like them.

Find out what labels releases you like are on, and then look up that label, it's normally all a similar sound. Or find DJ sets by producers you like, they're be a similar sound too. Beatport is not the place to find new music.
