Appearently he could do up to 34 years jail time. I don't expect anywhere near this, but he could get 5-6 years, which could possibly end his career.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Floyd Mayweather Jr. was charged with four felonies, including domestic violence, on Thursday over accusations by his ex-girlfriend that he beat her and threatened their three children.

Mayweather, 33, who is undefeated in 41 bouts and widely regarded as the best defensive fighter of his generation, was arrested last Friday over an altercation at the home of his former girlfriend, Josie Harris.

The boxer, who is free on $3,000 bail, was charged with battery constituting domestic violence, robbery, grand larceny, coercion and harassment. He could face more than 20 years in prison if convicted on all of the charges.

Mayweather's lawyer, Richard Wright, could not immediately be reached for comment, but told the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper that "if (the charges) are based on the same incidents in the (police) report its kind of a bombastic characterization."

Harris alleged in the police report that Mayweather had assaulted her after she found him in her house early last Friday. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor facial injuries and a sore left arm.

Mayweather, who lives in Las Vegas, fought his latest welterweight bout in May against compatriot Shane Mosley, registering a unanimous points victory that improved his career record to 41-0, including 25 knockouts.

According to a 2010 list of the highest-paid U.S. athletes compiled by Sports Illustrated magazine, Mayweather ranks third with total earnings of $60.3 million, behind golfers Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

To hell with Mayweather , step in Shane Mosley to fight Pac instead .

He got to get past Mora first , but I reckon it might just happen .

In all reality the ex-girlfriend will drop the charges or otherwise become uncoperative after a nice chunk of those earnings end up in her bank account. Does anyone really think he's going to jail? Really?

He has form. Has been convicted for domestic violence before. He's a joke of a man as far as I'm concerned. He was in the news a couple of weeks ago for making racist and homophobic comments towards Pacquiao from behind a web cam!

Absolutely. He reportedly earned 60 Million dollars in 2009; 22 million more than Manny.
She was uncooperative in the past when there was trouble. No real sympathy for her, though
if he did attack her, he's a lowlife

This women has pressed charges on him before and dropped them,
Whether he was guilty in the past god knows, but either way she dropped the charges.

Money talks, and In a recent interview with Mayweather Sr he stated that this all happened over her wanting money from him, Maybe she will just get that now.

This particular woman did drop her charges but he has been guilty in the past. In 2002, he plead guilty to two charges of domestic violence and in 2004 he was convicted of misdeamenour battery against two women in a Las Vegas night club.

Gotta love Paul Williams latest quote, despite the obvious seriousness of the issue. Hope this stirs Mayweather into taking a proper fight.

    “I guess Floyd won’t fight me because I don’t have a vagina.”

He got arrested again last night. There was a warrant for him after he "assaulted" a security officer. ie poked him in the cheek a couple of times.

Im curious to see what punishment he gets for all his mischeif this year .

Im not quite sure what he did to warrant a possible 35-year stretch ???
Nicking a mobile phone is a 'felony' ???
Surely if he did the same in Ireland , he would be getting a couple of weeks max .

Anyway , Im not supporting this guy .... he brought the sport to a new depth of shallowness . All the talk of wealth and greed replacing the true meaning of the sport (competitiveness and passion for the game).
