Sailors used to survive on strips of leather soaked in water in days gone by so there is basis for it.

Maybe so, but picking off bits of leather from the boots he is wearing is just complete **** if you ask me.

Leather is basically animal rawhide, so you can digest it, its just obviously not very pleasant.

Think before you post ridiculous assumptions.

Dont be watching Bear Grylls anyway, he is a cock, i hope he dies from leather overdose.

Bear does tend to do things the hard way alright. If theres a gate, he'll go through the hedge.
He was dropped off to survive off the Cliffs of Moher once and near died even though he would have been probably a mile away from the pub!

Watch Les Stroud if you want to see real survival and not an act.

Bear grylls was in the special forces RESERVES, dont be fooled by the act, its just a marketing gimmick.

A cock that made it to the summit of Everest at a very young age.

A cock that's making very very good money.

Comon, you got to admit it, he's very ambitious, seems fairly well trained and ambitious. You guys done anything similar?

Yes he did those things and is ambitious but he needs to realise he doesnt need to pretend and act like hes better than he is. He knows how to climb, thats why he does it in EVERY episode, and that really doesnt define survival or have much to do with it, climbing is a minute part of it and is therefore the majority of his skill in survival.

Anyone that knows anything about real survival skills wouldnt give bear grylls the light of day. His show is entertaining, but i cant watch it due to the fakeness.

    One day people will realise.

Was gas to see that video, it confirms all your gut feelings whilst watching an episode. I really believe the guy just gets local knowledge before each episode as well. I find it hard to believe he knows the plants of the Indo jungle off by heart, as no one knows them all yet, or the cacti of North America, it doesn't sit right with me...

To be fair, he only ate the leather because the hotel he was staying in didn't have a restaurant.
