My 10 year licence is up soon. Do I need to get an eye test done for the renewal application? Some one said that i had to but i cant see it on the form.
I do wear glasses full time, even the 10year old picture on the old one has the latest early naughtys fashion (ahem) decorating my face.

Nope as long as you're applying for B category or motorbike.
I renewed mine yesterday with no problems.

    and what about that question:
"Do you need to wear glasses\corrective lenses for the purposes of driving?"
Do I take it i tick NO seeing as i wear them all the time and not specifically for driving?

I ticked yes as i have to wear mine all the time, which takes in everything including driving.

The word "specifically" is not in the question...

If you tick yes, you will have to do the eye test. I got caught on this two weeks ago, as they sent back the application to me, Resubmitted with eye test and it is now also noted on the licence that I need 'em.
I wear mine all the time, and just automatically ticked this yes.

What reason did they give you for returning the form?
Is it specifically stated on the form that an eye test is required when you state that you wear glasses when driving?
I know you have to submit a medical report if you suffer from specified health problems but I did not see anything about an eye test.

Maybe I need one so :D

Reason given was that as I had answered yes to the eyesight question, an eyesight test was required.

Copy of the application form is online here courtesy of KildareCoCo. (no good for a proper application though i think) http://www.kildare.ie/countycouncil/PrintingForms/MotorTaxation/LinkToFormName,11523,en.pdf

Nowhere does it say an eyesight report is required for any reason though it may be mentioned seperately somewhere though......
