This is for sale brand new for 200 euro in Tesco, anybody know if it is any good? I just want something for surfing the net, downloading music etc, and maybe streaming from RTE player and the like so that I can leave my main laptop at work, seems very resonable. I take it that it would perform those tasks no problem?

I'd appreciate a bit of feedback on this as well. My laptop recently went kaput and I don't have the budget to get much at all but do need something... the above would be a great deal if it does the things that mickeyk says as my requirements would be the same... browsing and downloading music / video (to be transferred to a media player).

If this isn't suitable - battery is only 3 cell I see.. could a netbook comfortably provide the browsing/download/iTunes experience that a laptop can?

On this topic, would anyone have any opinions on this:

    Asus X5DC ULV Netbook:

Currently selling for €200 in Carphone Warehouse. My Acer is almost finished after four years as a reliable workhorse but I can't afford another as I'm currently gone back to college. I think a netbook and printer would do most of the student-type work I plan to do and the odd bit of internet browsing.

Its a good price for a reasonable netbook,

My brother's girlfriend recently got one and loves it.

The battery life (3 Cell) is not great on it compared to other netbooks though.

It will certainly do the basics well enough - browsing, word processing etc.

Using RTE player would be fine on it too.

Personally I cant use netbooks as the keys are too small, I have small fingers but Im too clumsy. Without being sexist most women I know that have netbooks like them but most men complain that the keyboard is awkward.

Thanks hearny, will prob go ahead and buy it in any case as I don't see the point in getting a new laptop at twice the price when it will only be doing very basic tasks, thanks again.

Won't be getting it until after the weekend but I will let you know definately, although they may not last long at that price, cheapest netbook I have seen. That one in Carphone Warehouse looks good too will pop in there first to look at that and decide then :)

Very reasonable for 200 yoyos. The processor may hold you back slightly but other than that it should be fine.
