There's a shed load of martial arts / self defence clubs in ucd, i know for certain there is a kick-boxing club, but don't think there's a muay thai one. If you're interested the annual UCD sports expo is on next week in the sports centre on campus, 10-5 mon to thurs, it's the best place for new members to join, plus every club will have their own desk / expo so you'll be able to talk to people already in the club, ask a few questions (I'll be propping up the shaolin kung fu desk from time to time :)). I don't know if you're a student or not, but most clubs should accommodate non-UCD students, just ask.

I reckon every it / college in the country has a pretty vast array of clubs of this nature. I suppose you're best off picking which ever's closest to you and seeing what they have to offer.

    Hope that helps.

I have heard off training partners that the UCD Kickboxing club is Semi-Contact

It's actually a Lau Gar club. Also, the UCC kickboxing club is really ITF TKD, at least it was when I was in it many years ago.

There seems to be more taekwondo guys in the kickboxing club than the taekwondo club!

It is Taekwon-Do, affiliated to the IUTF. They use the WKA as the name.

Technically, it is IUKF, or at least it used to be when I was involved with that group. Pretty dishonest way of getting a club into a college if truth be told.

Well in their defence, they are quite different clubs. (Or at least the were when I was there.) The kickboxing club is very sport and sparring orientated and the TKD club does more kata/patterns/whatever they're called in Korean.

Don't know about UCC but when I was one of the instructors in the other IUKF club we got into a bit of hassle with the powers that be that we weren't doing enough traditional stuff. It's still TKD under a different bag but I suppose if the UCC TKD club don't mind then it doesn't really matter.
