iPad internet speed problems

I have an new ipad as of last week and I absolutely love it. I am finding the web browser to be frustratingly slow at times however. It regularly just hangs at the beginning of loading a page & it might take 3 or 4 attempts at reloading before it will work properly. It doesn't always happen but it is a problem 50% of the time. It can sometimes take 10 mins to download a small free app too.

I've downloaded speed test and it has very changeable results. It's gone from 6370 kbs to 60 at times. The ping can range from 90 to 20,000!
At the same time the speedtest on my laptop will be normal and in the 6000 range.
I'm always using wifi by the way.

Are other people having this problem ?

I did find mine very slow at times and it turned out it was the wifi. We recently had a house alarm fitted and that was causing the wifi to slow down from time to time. If possible try it out on a wifi hotspot if there's one near by.

Yes, I have it too, but it wasn't there at the beginning. It does seem to be a by-product of my ISP and not an innate fault of iPad.

Hmmm... well that kind of sucks. Although not enough to diminish my love of the ipad.

I rang apple about it today and they told me do a restore which did actually help I think. I haven't had as much trouble with it this evening. Will have to see how it goes I suppose.

Naasard : I will try and see if it's the wifi in the next few days. Thanks. Do you find yours doesn't hang at all now when loading pages?

It takes a second or two to load but no more. Head into a Starbucks, load up a card with a fiver, pay for your coffee with it then try out your iPad, you'll soon see if it's wifi or an iPad problem.
