I had hoped to get out there but the kick-off time was a tad too early, I suppose it's to suit Ulster so that they wont have to overnight.

Great to see Mafi back in action.

There probably will be live updates from the game over on munsterfans.com

Game over, Munster win 30 - 3, One of Ulster's prop broke his ankle early in the game, poor guy.

good game mafi was outstanding, made some brilliant big hits, paddy butler was all over the place, he had a great game aswell, lineout was very good.

feel sorry for the ulster prop, he had a horrible looking dislocated ankle, foot was gone sideways, i wish him well and hope he recovers ok

Adam Macklin it was who broke his ankle. You could hear him scream in agony and looking through the camera lens you could see his ankle at a right angle. Munster played well and Mafi looked sharp and some great tackling from him. Pics from the game will be up on my website later or tomorrow morning :)

ya and i heard he was only back from injury aswell, unfortunately i saw and heard everything aswell, i was at the opposite end of the pitch but came down that end to get a top out of my car and was there at the wrong time, paddy butler was over him robbing the ball and all you could hear was macklin roaring then he turned and i could see his foot sticking out to the right, poor fella, especially for it to happen this early in the season, hope he gets it all sorted and recovers from it ok but i reckon his season is over

Some good pics there fair play to you. Jeez poor Macklin has that shock agony look on his face, you can feel a bit of pain but then you look down and go holy sh**t that can't be my ankle/leg/severed finger

    Cheers for the photos.

I feel so sorry for Macklin, his expression of despair said it all. :(

I pray for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for sharing, I know these are only moments in time but Nos 26 and 36 look very close to gouging.

Jesus they would have some aim to be able to gouge a running player

Completely over the top reaction to even suggest it.

Chill out man, I wasnt calling it a gouging incident, wasnt calling for the guy to be cited but have a look and see, could it not look like gouging?

Are you suggesting that a player cant be gouged while running or a player that tackles a running player cant be cited and banned for gouging if he enters the eye area of that player, I doubt you're right.

No, they don't look remotely like gouging.

In fact I think the Munster player in that pic is trying to choke the Ulster player. I think he should be arrested for attempted murder.

Since when are you allowed tackle around the face?

Point out where I said you are allowed tackle around the face. I am very interested to know how you've possibly interpreted my post as saying it's acceptable to tackle around the face.

Or are you saying every high tackle is also a gouge? Because that would be daft.

Why dont you make a citizen's arrest then?

I've called Gardai, they're handling it now.

I'm pointing out that the Ulster players seem to think it's ok to tackle around the face.

Bahahaha gouging! phog that is hilarious! Its a photo like! A snapshot where the Munster player is obviously going through and the Ulster player happens to have his hand on the face of the Munster player. To suggest gouging is laughable! Thered be 100 citings every week in the Magners League if you were to snap every tackle, ruck and maul and go on what could be happening.

Most the citings are for inappropriate contact around the eye area (commonly known as gouging). Thats what Quinlan & Jennings were cited for. Some of it is deemed accidental (like the photo), but you still have to do the time for it.

for it to be gouging it has to be deliberate, in that photo the ulster guy was obviously trying to tackle him and dave ryan got him with a good hand off and the ulster player is just left trying to hold on to anything he can to try slow him down, happens every game, and is not one bit malicious,

No it doesnt. Jennings found that out.

to be fair he deliberately put his hand in his face, maybe he didn't mean to gouge him but he still meant to do harm

Does anyone know about Munster A playing Connacht tomorrow? I see it on the fixture list but doesn't have a time and the only venue down is Limerick.

What fixture list? It's not on munsterrugby.ie from what I can see.

If you post on munsterfans or on rugbynetwork.net in the Connacht section you might get an answer, or if you email Munster rugby.

I must be losing it, all I'm seeing is this.
    http://munsterrugby.ie/domestic/rugby/fixtures&results.php

Anyhow, Munster have generally tried to promote their serious A games over the last few years, odd that this one isn't getting any coverage.

Strange, still there's only a few pitches it would be on, imo.

You could try emailing the guys behind Limerickrugby.ie, think it's run by a former Leader journalist?
