    Hi

I have my "audition" next week for forever 21. I have no idea what to wear. it says we want to see your style . I was thinking blue skinnys, Brown knee boots and this flowy floraly top. Or should I just wear smart trousers and blouse?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

They must be interviewing the world! There's a few threads on this already OP, if you do a search you should find them. The top sounds a bit last season... have a look at the trends on their website. As I mentioned on one of the other threads, this is the only situation where I would say DON'T go formal on the outfit. They're big into accessories, so would be worth wearing a lot. If you want to wear trousers, you can make it all on-trend, have a look at some of the recent Blake Lively-as-Serena outfits, and Whitney Port/Olivia Palermo have had some intersting pants outfits lately.

The shop by outfit section on the F21 site should give you some ideas.

not trying to be unhelpful here, but are you sure you are going for the right job working in a fashion store if you need to seek assistance from others here on what to wear? Won't part of your job (assuming you will be dealing with customers) be to give tips and advice on what to wear/what's suitable/what's in vogue etc for the various situations/occasions that customers need fashion guidance on? I just find it a little odd that you wouldn't have enough creativity/imagination/ sense of original style etc to be able to figure out what to wear your self if a core part of your job would be to give that advice to others?? Either way, best of luck with the interview. I've heard they are good employers!

just to clarify, I'm not having a go at you OP in this thread. Just more an observation of all those applying for fashion based jobs seeking fashion/what to wear advice on this forum. I just would have thought that skill would be something that those applicants would/should already have...!

in fairness to the OP, I believe her question was related to should she wear formal standard interview clothes, or her own style. Also as I mentioned there have been a number of these threads lately, she's not alone in these questions - I'm sure people are just concerned and want to maximise their chances of getting the job. There's no harm in asking advice/opinions on that, nor does it necessarily show any potential gap in their ability to actually do the job.

Once in store, they'll be selling what that store sells. In all fairness when you see the size of F21 the assistants are more focused on getting sizes and so on rather than advising people on outfits - the outfits are 'prepacked' to an extent in the lookbooks and merchandising guidance. for teh majority of roles the look of the auditionee and a cheery personality is probably more important in this type of store, they're representing the store's style and attitude rather than personal styling type sales that you'd get in a boutique.

Ah, I see. Based on that info, I see now why it is helpful for posters to ask for such advice then. Best of luck again, visiongirl!

Totally agree! not trying to be rude either but i think its odd how many people applying for this job have asked for fashion advice on this forum. i have been in lots of their stores stateside and the staff do need to know how to put outfits together/advise customers what to buy. If they do a task to style an outfit at the interview what will ye all do then....

Nobody asked for your opinions on whether the OP was 'worthy' of a job in a clothes shop.

People just need reassurance on the dress code at interviews.

OP, well fitting jeans are a must. Build on a good foundation.

Have a look at their website for definite ideas, but imo you can't go wrong with a basic top and a statement accessory, maybe a necklace? Blazers are great too.

Slightly OT, but how amazing is this F21 tshirt? :pac:

Please keep unhelpful comments to yourselves. The OP clearly asked whether she should wear casual or business clothes.

Best of luck OP - if you haven't had a chance, do a search for threads on here as one of them has some good info on the interview process. Sorry, audition :)

unless your style is smart trousers and blouses then no.

they clearly said they want to see your style so make a effort to express this. how much is up to you and your style.
