    Has anyone got recent info on taxing a van or jeep lately, i live in Kildare and i was wondering if the talked about changes are operating.

    I taxed the jeep we use in the garage for pulling a trailer last week in naas tax office and was asked for VAT no, my mate who drives a commercial jeep taxed his on wed and was not asked. Luck of the draw i think

    It seems to be down to which MTO you go to, and which member of staff you deal with it seems. Lots of reports of people not being asked, people being given innaccurate information from the tax office etc.

    OP, not blowing my own trumpet, but read this post I made in the above thread.

    Go prepared - have printed copies of the circular issued to the Councils and the press release by the Dept. of Environment (these are linked in the thread - towards the start, I think). You should only have to produce the dreaded form the first time you are applying for commercial tax.
