Hi all, sorry if this is in wrong forum. I recently started back at college to repeat a year that i had to leave due to illness. I was told when i applied that it would be maybe 4000 to repeat so i waited to have written comfirmation from the college on what i have to pay but i heard nothing back from them. So i started back at college, have been registered and have got my student card. Should my fee's not have been paid before i was able to get my student card? I don't know if i still have to pay fee's or have they been covered already? I'm on BTEA. Thanks.

have you tried to ring the college and ask about it?

If your on the BTEA, then you apply for your fee's to be paid through the vec AFAIK, but im not sure if they will pay them for a repeat year, however going on the basis you had an illness, i would assume that you have sufficient medical evidence to prove it, so its possible they will accept that.

i thought the rule was that a person can only be grant aided for a year once............regardless of the why they are repeating

If you dropped out due to illness, was there any mention of deferral by administration? In my experience you can defer your course for a year, due to your circumstances, hence not being liable for fees as you already paid for the year. You can register without paying fees, they will just probably hound you if you are liable. Also, you won't be allowed to sit exams and have limited use of faciliites unitl you do pay
