Windows Media Player 11 problems

Right I have WMP 11 installed on my Dell Inspiron 1525, Vista (yeah, I know:rolleyes:) but as of today it won't open when I click on the icon, I've tried re-downloading it but it says an older version wont work. So any ideas guys on what might be wrong? - it was working fine this afternoon. thanks.
