    ARRRRRGH.

Just got my phone back from HTC a couple of weeks ago after the auto focus died and now the GPS isn't working, have tried everything; wipes, new radio, different ROMs and still nothing. Outdoors, twenty minutes. nothing.

This is the best phone I have owned but it is also the worst, I've never had to return a phone under warranty before, never mind twice in a little over a month.

    Bullsh!t.

its an obvious issue with the hardware so.

cant really blame the phone either. i have sent back several high end Nokia's and Sony Ericsson it happens to some one. you should contact HTC about this sooner than later. also remove the root from the phone before or they wont do anything.

    Fact or opinion?

    It's in the warranty T&Cs.

    More of an advice.

Sure if its a hardware issue but if they need to test the hardware they will have to plug it in and test it and they would see it.

Otherwise were gonna see a thread on boards a month later "Help, sent phone for repair under warranty and came back with a big bill"

I have the phone almost 5 months now and it has spent three weeks in repairs already, so that will increase to 6 weeks out of 6 months. I would ask for a replacement but their not really in position to offer one.

When my nokia N82 died i brought it to a nokia service centre, they had it for weeks before telling me they couldn't fix it, when i asked about a replacement they said they couldn't get me an N82 as it wasn't officially released in Ireland. They offered an N95 which i accepted as this was about 4 weeks in but it turned out to have a faulty speaker. I didn't bother going to the service centre, i emailed nokia ireland direct complaining (politely) and within 3 days i had a new N82 in my hands.

Do HTC have an office here? Thats who i'd be getting on to. Write to them with the assuption that they're going to send you a new phone, thats the best way to make contact, not jumping in shouting about solicitors etc etc.

If you don't ask, don't get!

They have a Dublin number, that re-directs to UK. I'll give them a call on Monday. Cheers.

Cheers. I'm back to stock now, ran the OTA update, tried the APN supl addition and a few GPS test apps. There are no satellites to be found. It hasn't worked since my camera was repaired.

It seems to be an issue when updating to 2.2, I was running a custom 2.2 ROM with no problems but when HTC flashed the official ROM the GPS ceased to work.

There are a few experiencing the same problem -
