    Hi Folks,
I'm needing to get my 06 318i serviced for the first time.
Has about 80k on it... Im hoping someone could shed some light on the following:

    (a) A rough idea as to how much I should expect to pay (I've no problem paying the fair price but hate getting ripped off)
    (b) if anyone can recommend a garage in the south side of the city reasonably priced.

    thanks v much.

few. lets hope the previous owner serviced it before you.

id avoid main dealers since its out of warranty anyway.

try to find a good Indy that maybe specializes in BMW.

i recently got a full service, 2 anti-rollbar bushings, and a new airflow meter for 420 euro.

You had us worried for a minute ;)

If it had gone 50k miles without a service, I would be surprised if it was still running lol! Sure I would have the oil and oil filer changed 10 times in the mileage on my car :pac:

    Don't remember.
They are a bit dearer than an ordinary mechanic but lower than a main dealer. However, teh work is widely regarded as top notch.

    haha sorry for the confusion.

BMW535d, is that what I should be expecting to pay? Around the 400 mark?

The car has a full service history, serviced by the same garage on each occassion. I bought it from Linders on Chapelizod. Not sure who they have service their BMW's but I dont think they do it themselves.
Its not out of warranty yet.. is there any savings in having it serviced within the warranty period?

    thanks

The price depends entirely on what needs doing. If it's just a check and oil/filter change about €150 should do it. I'm not sure what they need doing at 80K but I'd suspect not much. You're probably in the dealer warranty period so getting a good indy to do it will be no problem.

yes I'm in the Toyota warranty scheme.
    Thanks for your input.

I just came across Cardock actually and they are located very close to where I work so would be quite handy. Anyone know if they are any good?

It also depends on what type of service is due. ie oil service, inspection 1 or inspection 2. Brake Fluid may also be due replacing. The service handbook should show you whats been done.

Don't think that holds true anymore - they had some particular bad scores in our survey, and I've had plenty of problems (not related to the botched respray).

Most people I know who did use them at some stage have since stopped.

Top three from our survey were -

    1: Chelmsford Motors, Ranelagh, Dublin
2: Courtney BMW, North Circular Road, Dublin
    3: Bavarian Autotech, Abbeyfeale, Limerick

Can personally recommend Chelmsford - they're reasonably priced too.

OP, what is the OBC telling you needs to be done?
the E90 3 Series is CBS (Condition Based Servicing) so it only flashes up what needs to be done.

    ie.
oil change or micro filter change etc etc
check through the history and see what was done prior to you buying it or if you go to any BMW dealer they can put your key into the little PC and tell you what you need done and price it there and then. it will give you a good base price to work with when you ring around other dealers/garages.
