Because as a company they want to make money. Making your title multi-platform is the best way to accomplish this.

There was nothing in Demon's Souls which couldn't have been done on the 360. Equally, there's very little that could be in the next game that couldn't be done on the 360 bar, for instance, tons of HD video.

Like what? Demon Souls was a very low power game, a 360 could have handled it no sweat. No 1080p HD videos, no hours of uncompressed audio (the 2 things that have forced devs to go mutliple discs). You drop the graphics down a bit and I would put money on a Wii running it :P

if its plays any way like demons souls i cant see it selling very well on the 360 , its community isnt known for high selling rpg games

Well this new game won't move past the 360 capabilities.

Neither is the PS3. I think it's good that it's coming out multiplatform. The more people that get to experience what for me is the game of this generation and the most innovative then the better.

Demon's Souls has only sold approximately 731,086 copies worldwide, not a stellar figure in any shape or form. With regards RPGs on the 360, the platform has seen high sales of Fable II, Fallout 3, Oblivion, the Mass Effect series and Dragon Age. Even Lost Odyssey with sales of 835,034 beat Demon's Souls.

Now, if Project Dark is even half as good as DS, I think it'll sell just fine. :)

Again you're somewhat implying that Project Dark will somehow use the amazing hidden powers of the PS3 which the 360 won't be able to match. Given that From Software even got help from Sony Japan during the development of Demon's Souls and they still didn't even do anything close to what the first party Sony studios accomplished with their respective titles, it's a non-issue.

As Retr0gamer said above, the more people who get to experience these games the better. :)

Demon's Souls wasn't a good looking game because it was technically competent, there's nothing there the 360 couldn't handle very easily and those rag doll physics were laughable. It was a great looking game because the art was superb and created such great atmosphere.

    Ugh. Fine.

I would like to see what From Software could do with all of the capabilities of the PS3. I haven't brought up Demon's Souls once.

The PS3 isn't better than the 360. Both excel in different areas and both have their own technical bottlenecks. Games made properly on both machines have very little difference between them and exclusives usually hide the systems weaknesses a lot better.

I'll be getting it on the PS3 for one reason, free online.

Well I can see myself getting it on the 360. No doubt the PS3 will somehow get the **** end of the stick during the development for multiplatform.

PS3 got Valkyria Chronicles 1 as an exclusive. It sold f*****g piss poorly. They also got Disgaea 3. F-all sales.

The PS3 fanbase are just as retarded for avoiding GOOD RPG's as the X360 players are, both fapped themselves silly over Final Fantasy XIII

    /rant

    EDIT: First trailer at Gamespot

    Very Demon Souls-ish.

Those numbers were they're own fault, not like they helped it by not releasing it outside of Japan for 9 months and then still being hesitant to release it in Europe for another 9 months. The game got good reviews and a publisher would not have been that hard to find. I don't remember seeing much advertisement in any shops and only a tiny amount online.

Those 360 RPGs with the exception of Lost Odyssey are all western and made by 3 developers who don't do much else other than RPGs, Lost Odyssey got a reasonable amount for what it was, but DS shot it self in the leg before it started.

Does Sony own the name and licence to DS, why is this only a spiritual successor.

All quite true however the point I was making was that the audience for RPGs is just as healthy on the 360 as it is on the PS3. Doubly so if it happens to be called Final Fantasy. ;)

Given the close co-operation with Sony Japan during development and the fact that they published it on that side of the world, Iwould imagine so yes.
