Accommodation in Paris

Hey I am planning a trip to Paris next year with my boyfriend, I was wondering would anyone have any recommendations on accommodation. I would prefer something located in the center but I wouldn't mind staying somewhere further out as long as it was near Metro or a bus service.

    Thank you :D

Have you looked at IBIS hotels? We've stayed at the Ibis Bastille a couple of times, very well located and reasonably priced when we were last there a few years ago.As they are a hotel chain it isn't the most romantic or atmospheric place in Paris, but we found the price / location hard to beat.

Oh thank you so much I just checked my dates and am so delighted :D Much cheaper and and nicer looking than any other place I've seen today. I'm surprised I never spotted this website before. Thank you again.

I agree, can't really beat an Ibis, my favourite one is this: http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-2953-ibis-paris-grands-boulevards-opera-9eme/index.shtml

But any of the Accor group are always pretty spot on. Esp in France!

Last time I was there, I stayed at the Hotel de la Paix, a compact hotel, but very clean and tidy. It's only about 500 metres from the Eiffel Tower, and 100 metres from a Metro station. Rooms aren't huge, but the place was fine!

Have to agree with the Ibis option. There are plenty to choose from no matter which area of the city you want to stay in. They won't break the bank either. I've stayed in the Ibis Montmartre before and will be heading back there next week. If you're looking for something slightly more upmarket there is another Accor brand hotel, Mercure, beside it. Very handy for the M2 metro line which is useful for either the Ryanair bus connection from Beauvais or the train from Charles De Gaulle to Gare Nord. Sacre Coeur is close by as is the Moulon Rouge and Pigalle, if that sort of stuff tickles your fancy.
Anyway enjoy the trip. Paris is a lovely city even if it is a bit on the expensive side.

guys heading to Paris on December 4th as part of a honeymoon. We wouldl iek to stay in the centre and was hoping to get some advice on specific districts to stay at. I have hear St Germain des Pres is nice but then heard opposite from someone else. Any recommendations so we can see the sites without having to get metro everywhere (would prefer not to use metro at all tbh). Also looking for a nice plush "honeymoon" style place to stay, budget would be 250euro per night.

    cheers all

    Expensive ??!
Yeah try Dublin, Paris is about the same for hotels, food and beers. I worked there for a year. Plenty of cheap options in Paris that you don't have in Dublin as well.

If you are flying Ryanair for the first time, give yourself an extra 3 hours to get to your hotel and then an extra 3 hours to get back to Beauvais airport. Pain in the arse - I don't care how cheap it is. Like being back in the 1960's.

Why not? It's pretty cheap and only 1 min or so between stations. It'll be an hour's walk to and from the Tower from the center of town and in December it's nothing something you're gonna enjoy doing :)

The best hotel plushness wise and service wise,is the four seasons George V.
It also has a 3 star michelin restaurant.
It is without a doubt the best in Paris and arguably one of the best hotels in the world so deep pockets are required.
If it's a honeymoon, then it's well worth it to consider say 2 nights there.

Black Briar I would say The Ritz is equal to the Four Seasons. I spent 3 nights there for my honeymoon and I would wholeheartedly recommend it and the restuarant there as well.

Of course you still need the deep pockets for it ;)

the metro is excellent in paris and the sites are all spread out so you will need to use the metro or go on a bus tour.

I guess I shouldn't disregard the metro then. As it will be honeymoon though, its not really something I want to rely on mostly. Point taken about seeing the sites in December, will need to wrap up!

C'mon the usual, don't leave us hanging!
Give us a few hints on those cheap options you mentioned...;)

Please don't be afraid of using the Metro, it is cheap, clean, convenient and so simple to use. You will be a pro after the first day! I can't recommend any hotels in the price range as I am always on a tighter budget, but would have to say that St Germain des Pres is one of my favourite parts of Paris, very chic and close to the lively 5th Arr (Latin Quarter) but not as mentally busy. Close to a lot of attractions and well served by metro lines, it would be my first choice of a place to stay.

Any hotel recommendations for St Germain des Pres. I am going back to Paris in Dec and really want to stay there. Have stayed in that area twice before and really liked it but hotels I stayed in weren't great.
