Have you a clean empty shed, like a calf shed that you can get at with the loader? Wouldnt be inclined to use the keenan feeder, maybe borrow a neighbours grain trailer?

It should keep for 3 months anyway

wasnt going to store them in feeder wagon , would feed them in silage

in the same situation as your self, was going to order 30 - 40 ton next week for the end of Sept, not sure whether to buy a 18% blend and a 28% mz balancer, or just get 2 or 3 straights and mix up my self to the desired %. even barley and soya would do as a two way mix.

would have though if you feed nuts through the wagon that the cows would sort the nut out of the feed, if you are limited on feed space per cow, then your heifers will suffer, as they wont get to the feed face till the older cows have sorted through the feed and got their fill

would buy enough to see me through till the other side of xmas any how, maybe even in to feb, may check the bank balance to go that far. still in all the euro saving minus interest on the money would still save ya a good bit

the prices i have are for summer nuts really the 18% would be kind of ok for the winter, but i could get something to put with it to increase the protein... where will you store it ?

will get 8 -10 t for the parlour loft, for while they are still at grass. then i have a 3 span open plan meal shed for the blends/straights, which would hold 3 * 10 t or 2 straights up to 20t+ each. should nt be a problem. should all keep grand till the end of jan at least

that's a good price for the nut

not in winter milk we are hoping to feed very little meal this year , have a good supply of quality silage and will try to turn out the cows as they calve , wishful thinking i know but if we don't plan for it it certainly won't happen.
