Internal Flue for Stove

Hi all

Want to install a wood burning stove in the house in kitchen area. Can I have the flue running up from the kitchen vertical up beside the staircase wall , up through the landing attached all the way to the staircase wall and up into the attic and out?

In other words, in a 2 storey house, Is there any restiction on having the entire flue running up the centre of the house and not appearing outside until it is thru the roof? What type of cladding needs to go on the flue where it is exposed to the landing ect where there is a risk of people touching it when it is very hot?

I dont have the option of the flue going outside as I am in a semi d and the external wall is taken up with kitchen presses

I dont know what u mean by through the landing but it may actually fall foul of building regs if it is in middle of landing.

The flue will be double skinned and insulated so no question of anybody touching it and getting burned as it will also be clad.

The one thing to watch is taht if the vertical run in the kitchen of single flue is too long the flue will not work well due to excessive cooling of flues gasses.

Make provision for cleaning

Spot on Carlow 52. Part J Regulations talks about separation distances from flue to combustable materials usually 200mm but I have in the past utilised insulated (twin) flue and utilised non-combustible (fire proof) plasterboard and encased the flue. This may be require in the hall way if passing near the stairs.
But check with Fire regulations regarding fire escape/stairwells. Technical Guidance Document B - Fire safety.
