Incoming call on O2 from unknown US number..

    Hey,
    I dont know if anyone else has experienced this recently (I cant see any other threads relating to the subject) and Im somewhat curious / somewhat worried!

    I am an O2 mobile customer. Recently I have been getting an incoming call from a number that appears on my phone as follows:

    +1 (231) 530-0

    When I answer, a pre-recorded voice says "Hi, this is an important call for "SAYS NAME". If this is you please press 1, if not please press 2"
    The first few times this happened I just hung up but the more it happened, the more curious I got so the last time I got the call, I pressed 1.

    The recorded voice then says "Please hold while you're connected"
    I waited for a few seconds while my phone appears to be calling someone.
    I hung up before anyone answered because I was worried this might be one of the scams that charges you a ridiculous amount per second as you are apparently "on hold" for an "important call"

    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Or can anyone shed any light on the matter

    Strange place to ask this but yea i've had this on meteor from us and uk numbers. Its a scam.

    Sorry, didnt mean to post it under this section and Im not sure how to change it now!
    Thanks for reply though.
    I just spoke to O2 about it and they said, looking at my call records Im definitely not being changed for it so its not much of a scam!!

    Yea I didnt get charged for it either, if my number was a uk or us one it would. I think they just added the numbers by mistake or something like that.

    Did you follow the call (ie press 1) and what happened? Did you get through to someone?
