    I would say no.
They are probably trying to smarten up office.

Smart casual is just no jeans/tracksuits.

You must have a pants in wardrobe, shirt, nice top. It doesn't mean suits.

Thread of the day is randomly picked.

Most places are shirt and trou, I wouldn't be worrying about it- if thats what the op was.

Naw. he was being asked to wear a pink tutu!

As long as I'm not asked to dress as a Giant chicken or some such in the name of advertising dress codes in a general sense are OK.

You will find however that more will be asked off the countrys surviving employees as jobs become scarcer and less secure.

I'd hate to be the placard carrier outside Dominos, what a demeaning role to give to anyone, begging for a living. Also the "GREETERS" in B and Q's, what a waste of time. This doesn't work in the Irish culture and makes people think the company is desperate and going broke and lowers the tone of a company.

Get a lovely denim suit made up. And a shirt made out of t-shirts. ;)

I dont get this at all.... Ha I'm presuming that its all about how styles have changed etc?
I can say that its quite annoying how they change so often and that I dont like most of the styles now..

I'm with you on this, styles change from season to season and sometimes it seems to me minute to minute. The worst style if you can call it that is the lastes trend of going to the shops or supermarket in pyjamas! I just don't get it at all. I have been told that some movie star has started this craze- don't know which but he or she has a lot to answer for. Sorry for the rant, I was in Tesco about an hour ago and some one in the cue was in pyjamas, I don't know if she was ready for bed or if she just never got dressed! The mind boggles.

I think the OP was talking about having to adhere to a new dress policy at work.

I started the thread to ask a particular question, which was answered almost immediately elsewhere. Unfortunately there is no option that I can see to delete a thread you start, so instead I deleted the question.

Terribly sorry if I caused a stir
