Not 100% sure if this is the place to ask but please feel free to move mods

A good friend of mine (actually a friend of mine and not me :D ) lives in london and has a portugese g/f. He wants to propose to her and since he assumes she will want to be married at home he is hoping to do the proposal in dublin. Now the thing is he hasnt lived here in years and anytime he comes back its a string of random pubs or sporting events so he has asked me if i knew any really romantic places in dublin in which to pop the question.

Now the problem 1) im not from dublin 2) i dont have a romantic bone in my body, so i am wondering if anyone would have any advice on where to do and what to do?
    Thanks

    Not really a Personal Issue

Ok Mike since it isn't you ;) I would propose "your friend" maybe consider the top of Howth Hill

You can walk by the cliffs and overlook Dublin Bay.

    Pretty romantic imo.
Bring a coat, gets cold up there

Nice plan- it is stunning up there.

I know London has the Eye but seeing as they will be over here, why not try proposing at the new ferris wheel down near the O2 arena when their carriage reaches the summit of the wheel ? You can probably hire one of the little carriages to yourselves if you want privacy I read they also have a VIP carriage if you want to be a little fancy.

It's not romantic per se but might be unique!

How about the Carmelite Church on Whitefriar Street? It's said to hold the remains of Saint Valentine. A bit Tim Burton-esque, maybe, but I'd be happy to be proposed to there.

Edit: If proposing at a crypt is too weird, maybe it could be a stop on the way to somewhere nice like Howth - to set the scene a bit?!

Right in the Middle of Stephens Green or just at the entrance near the top of Grafton Street in front of every one!!

    I personally would love that!!

I like the idea of Grand Canal docks, personally. The new theatre is absolutely gorgeous in the daytime and would look even better at night :)
