What do you do/think/say when your mate you've know for years, roomed with and did everything with tells you he's gay and has been for 2 years already and actually done it with lads and you never knew?

Totally shocked I was. Still friends but feels kinda weird

I can think of only one person who was gay where I didn't guess beforehand.

You really had no idea that your 'BFF' was gay?

EDIT: Pardon me on reflection, there have been two 'sneaky gays'.

Did him calling you his BFF not tip you off earlier?

One of my best friends came out as gay having just broke up with his girlfriend few years ago. I wasn't terrribly surprised. Nothng changed at all between us and we quite openly chat about our sexualities to each other.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Tell him that if he thinks he was straight and just became gay 2 years ago then he's mistaken.

I'd be confused as to why he never told me before. Wouldn't change my view of him though. We're assuming this roommate has no feelings for us right?
Then it might be more complicated.

My best man did that just before I got married to my present wife.
I just said "ok, fair enough..." and carried on with my life. He's still a good friend whom I would trust with my life and I don't see that changing at any time soon.

Thought BFF was standard. its like Super Best Friend, but now he's my GBF:D No, no idea at all has sex with girls and talks about blokey stuff. He's the same person and we're still mates but does it mean he was lying the whole time? or too scared to tell?

he wasn't lying the whole time, he just didn't tell you, maybe he found it difficult to tell someone he was blokey with that he actullay prefers guys to girls.

if you are his BFF (seriously dude, thats a girls term ;) ), nothing should change, be happy for him, he obviuosly values his friendship enough to be honest with you.

you should go out on the town with him. Gay nights out are the most fun nights out! :) One of my best friends is gay, he was gay when I met him and he's always up for a fun night out. He just has some aura about him that cheers the atmosphere up when he's about! :)

So he 'became' gay two years ago. Just like that.

    hmmmm...

On a serious note: must have been difficult for him to 'come out', so just be a mate and joke about it when required, and be serious when required.
