Hi I left my job end of August and just sent my p 45 off to the tax office this week. Does anybody know how long it takes for them to process any tax back you might be entitled to?

Also does anybody know if you get taxback on the 1500 euro you pay for student fees? (I have heard you can get 20 per cent back?)

    Many thanks
    FC

If the 1500 is the annual student registration fees, then there is no tax relief available. It is only granted on qualifying tuition fees, ie fee paying courses.

Re taxback - need more detail, are you gone back to college/ starting college?
Do you intend to work between now and end of year.

If you are returning to college after the summer, you should have filled out P50 and sent with P45.

Refunds can take from 6 weeks to any time lenght.

I have just started college as a mature student so I have left my full time job. I am hoping to get part time work but that has not happened yet.

Looks like I won't get anything for the fees then as it was annual student registration fees.

    Many thanks premier10
