Can't believe he didn't wriggle his way out of it!!! Seems to be common practice in today's game!

fair play to the committee for dealing with it. Should have banned him for 6 months.

It always went on-it always will until the system is changed.

Once again certain people slinging mud here with regard to cheating and hoping it will stick. Surprised no names have been mentioned.

It's like groundhog day on this forum..............ya, people are cheating with their handicaps. We all know it but don't need to report every instance of it on this forum. It just gets boring........................

I disagree. It's good to hear how clubs deal with such issues. I look forward to the day on here that someone is able to report an instance of a club setting a precedent by handing out a lengthy ban for such cheating.

And if i find it ever gets boring I can always just not click on the thread.

I realise that it's possible to catch a player who has adjusted his card to get the 0.1 back but how can you catch the players who purposely play bad to get a few 0.1's and gain the shot?

I don't think you can. It's just something that happens and is a fault in a system that should make things fairer.

I understand what your saying longfellow but it still doesnt make it right,
these people are only cheating themselves.
Id rather lose than win having "fixed" my handicap

Pretty stupid guy. I never come across somebody who wants to play badly to get a shot back for Captains. Hang him.:)

This whole cheating lark has been done to death on this forum. He's only cheating himself....I always play to win.....why would people shot high scores on purpose....

In every club, every year, there are a few guys who play the 3 or 4 rounds needed to be eligible to win the Captains/Presidents. They get a few 0.1s back at the start of the year and a few more at the end.

I'm sure we could start a thread each Monday with instances of cheating from that weekends play. Moaning on here isn't going to do anything for the situation. Committees need to be proactive rather than reactive and have guidelines in place for such instances.

How many golfers here are on some committees in their respective clubs? How many would be willing to bring the subject up at their monthly meeting?

I think i mentioned it before but a guy from our club has been suspended by the GUI for 4 years for cheating. The guy was down to 1 at the time. It was his 2nd infringement in a year, first resulted in a 6 month ban.

i haven't heard of a ban anywhere near this length before.

That's encouraging to hear. I'd imagine the club would be keen to keep it fairly hush hush, but i think the more stories like that get around, the more impact it will have (hopefully!) on making guys think twice about cheating.

.1 back or 4 years of no golf - it should be a no-brainer!

Proper order too, the clown. Scholarship down the drain, the clubs are sold now so it's all over!
