i used to catch a few on runs where they used to cross under a fence, but iv stopped using them now, i use a cage to trap them and lamping keeps the numbers down

Try and find their marking posts on well used runs - has worked for me in the past:)

if your unsure as to how to set them then don't
it's an art form doing it correctly try to find someone who knows what they are doing and ask for some practical help other wise your likely to end up with someones moggy /dog or at worst a pissed off and angry brock

good advice if you havent used them before, to be honest they are a pain in the hole unless your sure its only fox in the area, as said the neighbiur wont be happy if his dog gets caught in it, if its your first time using them try and get someone to show you, i did when i started and it saved alot of hassle

if you know where there's earths that are live get your local terrierman to sort out the foxes. it'll mean a quick death and dont have to worry bout other animals getting caught up in snares.

i not a fan of snares. we were out lamping other night and the lurcher caught a rabbit that had a homemade snare cuaght around his chest:mad: it had started to cut into his skin.

That's why they need to be used by people that know how to use them. The vast majority of foxes I've snared have been sat, quite alive, waiting for me and the shotgun in the early morning. They're an invaluable tool, much more use than any gun or dog in the right hands.

I know 2 brothers that get a serious number of foxes in snares and insist on leaving them in cow dung for afew days, they also make sure they kill off their own scent off their hands when setting them too! Just make sure its a fox run your setting them on or some poor farmer might find dear old rex hanging from a ditch!
