My niece sent me a text looking to know if I knew where to get a filter holder. I had a search on ebay which prompted me to ask what size she needed. She said she had one for a film Pentax that was about 20 years old and it fit the Canon Rebel XS. The lense itself has 18-55mm written on it.

I'm still in the dark (room).

if you look at the lens there should be a number around the front of it - thats the filter thread size...prob 48 or 52 or something like that.

the filter holder your niece is talking about is probably the cokin P system (or C...I dunno)

its a piece of plastic with 2-3slots for glass/plastic filters to slide in.... it attaches to the front of the lens (like most filters)

I will send her off a message there now to see if she can get me that number. What do these things normally cost in a camera shop?
