And it just stays at 0, I am also running the Console GPU3 client as well, what is the problem?

Nevermind, it decided to move :)

Now then, I know in the systray version you can pause the process amd then quit, or pause when it's done the current WU, can you do that with either console version?

Also, one last thing, sorry for triple posting but:

where can I view team 39432's folding stats?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 555 ✭✭✭zodac

    1) The SMP client takes a bit longer to start moving than the GPU. Fermis can go up 1% in under a minute, while SMP takes quite a bit longer. For example, my Pentium D takes ~45min/%. :p

    2) No way to pause it like the systray client, but just close it and it will continue when you open it again.

However, if you close the SMP client (not GPU, only SMP) mid WU, you will be losing points. The SMP client uses a bonus system, which is dependent on how fast you complete the unit. If you close the client before it's finished, you are losing hours of Folding time, and loads of bonus points.

To counter this, you can add either:

    • The -oneunit flag; it will cause the client to close once the WU has completed and uploaded results.

    • The -pause flag; the client will ask you if you wish to download a new WU and continue Folding.

Using either of those flags, you should be able to time it so when you turn off your computer, you're not in the middle of a WU.

    3) Boards.ie team stats:

I can use -oneunit for both GPU and SMP right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 555 ✭✭✭zodac

Yeah, but GPU WUs finish so quickly, you're in no risk of missing the deadlines, so there's no need.

Hold on, looks like your Folding a Unicore WU.

Did you make sure to add the -smp flag to the client when you installed it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

Added the -smp flag just a while ago and restarted the client :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 555 ✭✭✭zodac

Alright, well, you're Folding a Unicore WU at the moment. When you get the next WU, check what FahCore you download. You want FahCore_a3.exe, not FahCore_78. ;)

I need to stop it for a while anyway, should I delete the current core so it is forced to DL A new one?

No, Unicore WUs don't have bonuses, and have really long deadlines, so no need. You'll finish this one off pretty quickly, then should move on to an SMP WU.

    You're using a Phenom II 550, right?

right now? Yes, but I plan to get a 1055T around February.

    Isn't Bulldozer due out in Q1 '11?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

It really depends on how much money I have, because I'd need another motherboard for Bulldozer, and I'd also have to ring up MS to re-activate windows as I have an OEM version.

Also I may be forced to use stock heatsink, because the layout might be different along with the socket.
