Does it have to be a passport style SHOW NO EMOTION photo, or can I put up one of me smiling and generally looking really sound (I'm really sound)?

Obviously I don't mean one with graffiti clipart and a sparkling border, no sir, this is NUI not Bebo, but are there strict rules?

Anything you want within reason. :pac:
Mine is one I had from a fake election poster I made a while back, got through no bother, big smiley head on me :D. Just make sure it's good quality because them seem to be blurry.

They couldn't give a shite. You'd probably get away with a clown wig.

Unless they've changed it around that picture stays with you throughout college and if you decide to go back a few years later to do a masters or some such, boom, same photo. That has led to some hilariously outdated photos for some people I know.

Would there be issues if I blacked up?

As in black-face? I'd imagine they may object, yes.
