Reached level 70 today and just wondering if i should prestige or not? Do all challenges reset or is it just weapons, atachments etc. I wouldnt mind earning my way through the levels unlocking the weapons but i dont want to reset all the challenges? Gimme your 2 cents

Everything is gone except your achievements, I'm a crap player and after I prestiged for the first time I lost heart in the game and only play it occasional now. Up to about level 30 now but would prefer all my guns back but with Black OPs coming I can't see that happening soon.

If you're getting Black Ops don't bother. Al the challenges, guns, perks etc reset, you essentially start from scratch, and unlock an extra custom class and prestige challenges.

Do it! the extra custom slots are worth it

Do it, it's a new lease of life on the game when you prestige IMO

I find it's more entertaining trying to level up, and unlock things, rather than stay at 70 having everything at your disposal. The only reason I see for doing it, is to use the AK47 (as you only unlock it at lvl 70), or going for high kill achievements on killstreaks etc., and unlocking new titles/emblems.

The way I look at it is this, if you hit lvl 70 and arent specifically going for certain challenges, then every game is just wasted XP, that could be going towards levelling you u again, the prestige challenges get easier the more you do it as they dont reset so you'll start hitting the 1000 harrier kills and all that on your 2nd or 3rd one, do it, you wont regret it :)

Actually speaking of challenges, someone might answer this for me, if you complete a challenge but havent actually unlocked that challenge yet, does it count when you do? I only ask as earlier I had 3/4/5 as my killstreaks, had 2 kills down and lobbed a semtex at a domination flag that got me my triple kill and all killstreaks at once, along with the Wargasm challenge, but I hadnt unlocked that set of challenged yet, i got them 2 games later and the wargasm one was already completed, so I guess I do or was that a mistake?

It depends how long it took you to get up to 70 in the first place.... when did you start on Level 1? If it took ages, there's no point in doing it again IMO if you want your weapons quickly

I'm the same at level 8..

Everytime the XP pops up, I think.. "what a waste" and lean towards hitting the prestige button, but then think of all the weapons deselected and certain challanges reset and talk myself out of it!?

I missed out on the recent double-points weekend as I was away and would have done it then.

    Hhhmmm....tricky one......
I too am currently at level 70 and have been for a couple of months.
I've prestiged 3 times and have a couple of extra slots which are handy to have.
I have felt the guilt of the wasted xp at the end of games aswell but I'm concentrating on unlocking extended mags etc for all of the guns now instead of pressing the button.

It depends really, if you play every night for a couple of hours you will rank up fairly quickly. If not, then don't bother. Stick to unlocking all of the attachments for your favorite guns instead.

There is enough of a challenge in doing that.

As said if you are getting black ops dont prestige. If you get back ops and in a couple of months want to go back and play this most of the stuff will probably be locked and you wont have the pro perks.
Although I reached 10th prestige last month and its kinda boring not leveling up anymore. I bought cod4 and waw to fill the time.

Took me 3 days 14 hours to get to 70 (i know i could do it quicker if i had to start again). there are a fair few challenges ive passed (through luck not skill) that i know ill never get again eg wargasm, the harder they fall to name a few. i also have up on 900 kills for the m16 and acr and it would sicken me to start off with zero

You don't lose the titles or emblems for challenges like Wargasm, Perfectionist, Sarge etc. The challeges do all clear and next time you get them you get the xp bonus.

You will also lose any kills you have for a particular weapon when you go to Prestige 1 but on future Prestiges they do not reset.

The reason I Prestige is to get custom class slots but I would say you should Prestige at least once just to get the Prestige challenges. Lots of very good players don't prestige or just prestige once.

It is a pain unlocking all the perks and weapon attachments again and again. I'm on Prestige 7 now and unlikely to prestige again just for one more custom class slot on 9.

I went for my first prestige and found new guns that I never really used before. I used the scar loads first time round but much prefer the famas after prestiging. I definitely appreciated having all the perks unlocked second time round (don't know what you've got till it's gone) and you'll miss having cold-blooded, (you feel so vulnerable every time a UAV, or anything is in the air or when you're sniped by thermal scopes) but that's part of the challenge. Having team mates who can look out for you helps loads.

    It's a mixed bag really:
+++ you get more slots for classes,
    - - - you're 70 levels away from the AK47 (which I was growing to like),
+++ you try new guns/tactics you might not have done before,
    - - - you'll hate thermal scopes/ killstreaks without cold-blooded,
+++ you keep all your callsigns/emblems and can unlock more,
    - - - your kill streaks are reset so care packages are you're best friend,
+++ new challenges forces you to rely on skill not guns/perks/etc
    - - - you're without attachments/ stinger/ sitrep/ ninja and pretty much an underdog against most oppponents.

Personally, I don't know if I would prestige again (2nd time) as I only get a new symbol and not another slot and Halo reach will be getting most of my attention and then there is Black OPs lurking on the horizon so MW2 might be gathering dust for a while and unlocking all the guns could be too much if you only play it casually.

How many times can you actually Prestige? I've done it before and I'm back at level 70 again. I have 5 is it custom classes from the last time, you don't get anymore do you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

You start off at 5, get one when you prestige 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 times. So every second prestige realy. You end up with 10 custom lass slots at 9th prestige, but you can prestige again once more. That's the final one.

i did it for the 1st one.. i'm on level 68 now.. and dont think i'll do it again.. not because of the resetting and all that. just because i wanna try complete all the challenges and that.
