i would like to buy some pheasents and release them when they are old enough to be released. what is the best time of year to get them, what kind of pin should i buy one or make one.

most clubs are letting their birds out now so you might be a bit late for this year. Build your own pen and the size depends on how many birds you want to release.

how many are you thinking of getting, we left ours out 2 weeks ago, they were 20-24 weeks old

club raised them from chicks not sure on price, but if you were to buy 4-5 month old pheasants you will pay anywhere from 8 euro up..

not being smart but the pen size all depends on how many you will be keeping, are you keeping them just for yourself or is it for a club

I was at the gun club meeting and they were talking about it. i was thinking i would do it if i had some time, then i found out i failed 1st year in college so i only have 3 hours a week now so i will have loads of time for them. Are the pins dear to make

a member had the pens already for fowl, so he just changed a few things to suit the pheasants, at a guess it was 40x40 and we had 3 of these, made from security fencing with netting on top, we kept over 300 in these, plenty room is key as the will fight a lot, i didnt have much to do with rearing them this year as the member wanted to look after that side of it. best bet is to get the club to build the pens, and maybe offer to look after them, cause no matter how good the birds will be some people will always complain, at least if its a club pen everyone will be envolved and if it goes belly up you wont be too m uch out of pocket

you need a minimum of 1m sq per bird , so a pen 40 ft x40 =1600/9 = 150 phesants roughly but the more space you give them the better off you are as they are prone to feather picking etc
