Rock'n'Roll Musicians Wanted, Dublin

I'm looking to get a rock’n’roll band together with the emphasis on fun, scuzzy, grooving, high-energy versions of songs from 50’s Rock‘n’Roll, 60’s Soul, all the way through classic rock to today’s alternative music.

Think Little Richard played by The Libertines. Or Fats Domino played by The Ramones. Think Jim Jones Revue, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The John Spencer Blues Explosion.

R'n'B, Soul, Punk, Rockabilly, Boogie, funky Blues, just good, noisy, fun, energetic Rock’n’Roll.

I play guitar. So we’ll need Drums, Bass, Keys and Vocals for a kick off.

The plan would be to practice twice a week until we have a set together. Then get a weekly gig somewhere, play mid-week for free beer to get the ball rolling (and still practice once a week) and then take it from there.

You don’t have to be professional, you don’t have to be a musical genius, you don’t even have to be very experienced. You do have to be rythymically tight, that’s the most important thing.

Age is completely irrelevant (the last band I was in ranged from 18 – 50-something). I’m in my late 20’s, been playing 15 years, from Kilkenny, living in Rathmines. I’m a DJ so not available weekends but otherwise unemployed!

I have put together a playlist to give an idea of the kind of songs I'm talking about. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=551BFBE4665F5766

Have a look at the playlist and if it sounds like your idea of fun, get in touch.

does sound like my idea of fun.that old stuff has something a kind of raw energy.maybe its something to do with having to grind the music out of primitive equiptment.good selection.some of it I hadnt heard before.that Jim Jones Review one was really inspiring.tempted to offer my services as a second guitarist, but dont think I could commit much time to a covers set up.best of luck with it.hope to catch the gig.

So far I've had a reply from a singer and a drummer.

Bumping this, we have a rehearsal studio booked for tomorrow 7-11pm and the bassists are not getting back to me. Any bass players interested, give me shout.

Still looking for piano as well.

    Hey Bootsy,

Cheers for the heads up, sounds like good craic. Have some things lined up this week, but will let you know next week and maybe arrange a jam or something.

    Cheers,
    Shane
