Isnt TNA on Setanta aswell (so we will be ok ;) in Ireland)

Cant see sky putting WWE and TNA both on their networks. Didnt sky and WWE have some exclusivity deal? (disclaimer - that last bit may be totally innacurate )

Besides TNA, Bravo also has Sons or Anarchy and Leverage two big ratings winners :(

Well that's fairly sh*t news. iMPACT! has been doing very well in the ratings in the UK (averaging around 100,000 viewers every week). It'll be interesting to see where iMPACT! will end up now (my guess will be alongside ReAction and the PPV's on Extreme Sports)

I'm sure that Sky will re-distribute the decent shows among their other channels.

As for TNA, they will surely get picked up by another channel, but the deal is unlikely to be as sweet as the one they have now. They were getting prime-time slots on a channel with decent enough exposure, plus plenty of replays and advertising throughout the day. They will probably end up on Extreme Sports alright, which has much more of a niche market than Bravo.

ITV or Channel 4 would love those kind of ratings..

I wonder would ESPN be an option for TNA.

Could well be, especially with the HD channel.

I don't think ITV will ever go near wrestling again after the whole "Celebrity Wrestling" show.

ITV probably wouldn't want it. Aside from the football and formula 1, which are both proven ratings winners, they have little sport on their schedule. They are really cutting back on programmes that cost them alot of money and are more interested in late night call in shows that cost next to nothing and make money. Theoretically if they did get on ITV then they would get a late night slot. These late night slots are usually taken by these phone in shows so I can't see it happening.

Wrestling is not the commodity that it was ten years ago. The only wrestling that terrestrial tv stations would be interested in would be WWE.

TNA Responds To UK Sky TV Acquisition
TNA WRESTLING’S RESPONSE TO SKY TV’S ACQUISITION OF VIRGIN MEDIA TV CHANNELS

In response to reports of Sky TV’s move to eliminate the Bravo cable network, TNA’s home for “iMPACT!” in the United Kingdom, TNA officials issued the following statement on Wednesday:

“Following the acquisition of Virgin Media TV channels (now rebranded as The Living TV Group) by Sky, there has always been the possibility of fundamental changes to those channels, including Bravo. However, we remain confident in TNA’s position due to the outstanding ratings enjoyed in 2010, and our long term contract with the Living TV Group,” TNA Executive Vice President Andy Barton said.

I'd concur with this. ITV would also need to run the wrestling very much off peak to give it a two hour spot and this just is not going to happen anytime soon. If TNA goes anywhere it will end up on a smaller channel such as Extreme, FX or ESPN looking to bolster it's schedule with a decent audience.

I'm sure TNA will find a home on Comedy Central. :pac:

    Probably Sky1

Honestly though, please not ESPN. It's enough to spend to get Sky and Sky Sports so EPSN, even now with NFL MNF is a bridge too far for me. ITV (the only place would be ITV4 which, despite what was said above, is ITV's quasi-sports channel) would be another no for me as it's not on the EPG and so recording it easily would be made impossible.

The most illogical thing about it all, is why buy a station/stations and then just close it?

Ffs, no more ninja warrior/takeshis castle.

    Pain in the ass.

If ESPN get the rights, no way will TNA get those kind of ratings. Its only because its free TV that they beat WWE most weeks. So unless TNA are total morons, they will get another station thats free to view for the fans.

Only Bravo and the haplessly renamed Channel One are going to be closed, so your comedically dubbed Japanese gameshows are safe!

    Nice one :D

Still doesn't make much sense to me, buying a tv station to just close it.
It's kinda like buying a house to level it with a jcb.

Imagine if they put tna on tv3 here and channel 5 in England (as the two are pretty much the same channels.)
Both are free and are near gauranteed viewership.

TV3 is more like ITV imo. But I was thinking Channel 5 would be probably the most likely out of all the channels. Shame its not on the main Irish listing though.

You have to remember this was bSkyb buying the Living TV Group (Living, Challenge, Bravo, etc) and the main aim was to add the female-focused Living TV to the stable. They felt Bravo and Channel One shared too much of a demographic with Sky1 and - understandably - didn't have an appetite for cannabalising themselves. Bravo was more male-focused than Sky1 admittedly but I can see where they came from on a business end even if the idea of consolidation is always an unsavoury concept to me.

    That makes sense now.

I would love Channel 4 to get it but The Extreme channel will probably pick it up, they already have the PPV

Going by that quote it looks like it is staying on Bravo, obviously UK viewers will be able to watch this on Virgin Media but Irish viewers will only get to see PPV's on Extreme sports.

Thats the way I read it anyway

Think its 2 weeks but as a Sky Subscriber this would not help me think it is 15e per month for Setanta...

Looks like I will have to be watching it online
