    Hi,

Can anyone tell me which airports are the best for Livigno?
Also ,what is the transfer times?
Ive heard its 4/5 hours which seems a nightmare compared to the resorts ive visited.
Ive heard good things about livigno so wanted to check it out this season.
Can anyone tell me also if its good for boarding/freestyle parks?
    Also,whats the apres ski like?

Went to livigno and it took the guts of 5hrs to get there. What company are u going with?
There is a large enough number of different slopes and some activities.
As for nightlife, there is only 1 niteclub and its not very big but god fun.
We were in a big group so made the most of it. Food and drink is cheap too

if its any use to you check out livignosnow.com - this will be our second year travelling with them, transfers are a bit easier to arrange as you can do it through them

Was Innsbruck I think we flew into. Can't remember how long it took though, didn't care on the way in, and was in the back of an ambulance on the way back. The transfer times never really bother me though as your spending longer than that between getting to and from airports at this end, sitting around in the airport and the actual flight, so an extra hour here or there doesn't make much difference.

Havent booked with any1 yet,Topflight seem to be the only companythat fly to livigno from dublin and they seemvery very expensive to say the least .ive travelled with crystalski before andthey were much cheaper.I might checkout that livigno ski link and see ican work out a cheaper deal.the prioces they are quoting are comparatively much more expensive than places ivepreviously been to ie Meribel, soll and andorra.Crystal also usually have special discounts on holidays ie 20% off etc. but topflight have nothing but over the top prices.Any1 used any different tour operators travelling to livigno?

An ambulance eh?Thats oneway of saving on a return transfer:).
5 hours is still a long transfer,,10 hours round trip, nearly half a day!!Its not too bad inbound but on the way back we're all usually fairly hungover andthe thoughts of 5 hours on a bus are bit of a nightmare

Topflight are quite expensive. We booked with them and paid for ski lessons and ski pass in advance only to learn it was cheaper to but it when we got there. Luckily we got our lesson money back! What they also offer is a "free" meal half way to the resort and the hotel we ate in supplied, pasta and ham and ask each of us for 10euro when leaving! The bus trip will be 5 hrs and the bus driver wouldn't stop for a toilet break when asked.

That said the resort itself is great and well worth it!

Try one of the local taxi companies if your in a group of less than 8 .We traveled with taxilivigno.com last year and due to the fact we were only in an 8 seater and that the driver was very Italian with his driving , the transfer was closer to 3 and a quarter hours

I think you can also fly into Bergamo which has pretty cheap flights if you wanted to do it yourself... Although I think it's kinda hard because Irish/UK operators book out Livigno for pretty much the whole season.

We went 3 times with Panorama and once with Crystal - Panorama were way better I have to say. We stayed in Stella Alpina apartments which were really nice.

The main airports for Livignio are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Milan Bergamo, Verona Brescia, thats wher most of the TO fly to but the transfer is still over 5 hours.

Livignio is great but the transfer is a killer

Ive been to livigno for the past 2 years and have found it excellent.
Great slopes, lots of snow, cheap food and drink and good accomidation.

We booked it all ourselves, traveled from dublin to bergamo with ryanair for about 100euro, rented a car/mini bus for the week at a cost of about 50euro each. Booked accomidation directly at a cost of 150-175 each depending on which time we went.
If you live in dublin its pretty good value to book it all yourself. We live in cork so its a bit more hassle driving up and down but still worth it:)

We stayed in an excellent appartment last year which i will try and get the name of for you, its right next to caresello300 which is the main cable car.

You could also fly from Cork or Dublin to Munich and it's about the same duration of a drive as the Milan airports. Hire a car (you may need to specify winter tyres and snow chains), or book a taxi.

There are 2 snow parks in Livigno...one on each side of the valley. The snowpark on the Mottolino side is recognised as one of the best in Europe.

There are also 4 or 5 boarder cross tracks and a couple of natural pipes.

I can email you my Livigno guide if you want. I've been there for 15 weeks. Main points: Osvaldo Monaci from Scuola Ski Azzurra for skiing, snowboard or telemark lessons: genius, great guy. Gino in the Ski Klinik for ski hire. Upstairs from Ski Klinik is La Grolla, great steaks and veal and bombardinos: hot sweet egg licqueur with cream and sometimes a hit of rum or whiskey.

Now that I don't know, but about 5 years ago 45 of us went there, but because we were spread out among 6 apartments, we ended up socialising with the people from our apartment...cook or go for grub with your flatmates, possibly run into others in a pub or on the slopes. I was introducing myself to people on the bus on the way back to the airport.

If you go to Livigno.eu that's the tourist office in Livigno and you can email them your requirements and they'll forward it to the landlords and landladies of Livigno who'll email you back responses and offers. It's worth a try.

Contact me if you want more details on my opinions of socialising, food, shopping in Livigno

LivignoSnow.com generally offer a better, more personal service than Mountain-ToursLtd.com, but they're not so bad either.

GarMani, I just removed your email link for your own benefit. Posting it openly on the web will result in untold quantities of spam heading your way. There is also the PM facility via boards.ie that you can use to contact people without giving out personal details in the open.
