We are going to be in a similar situation but ours will be one year old when we go down that road.

One thing to keep in mind is that if the minder works in your house then you are required to pay PRSI for her (or him).

We got prices ranging from 700ish up to over 1200 per month, depending on what the minder will do (just looking after the kid or also housework).

A new born is hard work - so expect to pay much more than you would normally for a child minder / creche.

No offense OP - I'm sure you have your own circumstances to deal with, but would one of the parents not be better off looking after a new born??
