    Hi Everybody
I reciently had an impulse buy on ebay, a Merc 450SLC, well 2 of them actually, 1 to restore and 1 as a parts donor.

One of the things that needs dealing with is both front and rear windscreen. Some of the clips that are on the frame to hold on the chrome trim have come off or rusted to ugly lumps, how difficult are these to replace or how are thye put on, are they welded/rivited/screwed.

Also how difficult is it to take out and replace the windsreens.

    Thanks again.

Front screen is bonded in. I took out mine, but that was easy because much of the bonding goo had hardened and the screen was loose in the frame in places - a bit of cutting with wire and it came out.
To remove the chrome surround you have to prise the chrome from the fixing clips... when the car was new it probably was possible, but 30 years later the whole lot is likely rusted up, so best I can advise is to prise it off carefully and try not to damage the chrome trim but sacrafice the trim clips. From memory there are 3 clips, top, middle and bottom, on the side trims and 4 clips, evenly spaced, for top and bottom trims. The clips are riveted on, BTW. I think they were used across the MB range so reckon you could order them from a dealer easily.

When replacing my screen, rightly or wrongly, I stuck the chrome trim back using (low modus) adhesive... I did not have the clips available and needed to move the car from where it was located. If I was doing it again I would get the clips and stick them using strong adhesive, then clip the chromes on as MB intended.

The rear screen is held in the old fashioned way, with rubber seals. I haven't done anything with that.
