Does anybody ever notice when you are walking past someone ,when you are passing by them ....all of a sudden the persons starts pawing / touching their face. Here are a few i have noticed

tapping nose twice ,rubbing /scratching nose, pinching nose, scratching head, pulling ear, touching hair ,brushing imaginary dust off clothes ,rubbing chin or face with front or back of hand. etc. .

What do these monkey like gestures mean? Is there a dictionary i can look up for this?

It's most likely just a nervous thing.

That, or they are trying to distract themselves for your grotesqueness.

A dictionary?! Christ, I hate when people assume humans’ behaviour and psyche can be so easily analysed. “Oh, you had a dream about death? That means you need change in your life.” Feck off (not you OP, the world in general).

Maybe they just had itchy noses?

OP - are there an infinite number of you in a room typing as we speak?

If so my money's on the one three desks down to come up with the completed works of William Shakespear.

I find when I'm nervous or caught out surfing the net at work or whatever I automatically start tucking my hair behind my ear or something like that
and fidgeting when I talk to people
I really have to stop :(

Believe me, i am feeling the same paranoia effects! .When you walk by multiple people in a row who all rub their nose...I wear a mishapen worn looking hat when in public areas. I think that may be why people are touching their noses as a non verbal sign of dissaproval of my hat. I feel better now:)

If in a nightclub, some women may unconsciously do this to make themselves look better when they see someone they like the look of.

I saw this thing on ITV the other week,
Said, that if she played with her hair, she's probably keen
She's playin with her hair, well regularly,
So i reckon i could well be in.

I think i am beginning to understand this better now. When someone makes a soft brushing delicate touching stroke on their hair for example..that is complimentary...but when someone makes a quick or aggitated stroke /rubbing /scratching move accross their face that is more likely to be non complimentary...I know this based on my expericene as well, because when i have experienced alot of random people rubbing their noses, for no apparent reason, i can't help but make a quick whipping stroke across my cheek with my finger nail to show my agitation

If she licks her lips and then mouths the words "Fuck me" then you're in there (after looking behind and making sure it was for you).
Other than that, it's all guess work and there's never any way to be sure unless you get talking.

Am... no. But nice try. I usually do it because I'm bored, tired or concentrating.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.
Giving it a go myself tonight to see what the deal is. Might be fun.

Of course you may play with your hair for those exact reasons.... but if you were staring at a guy you wanted to attract, You may start softly caressing , stroking your hair sub conciously?
